The popularity of Halloween in the UK is increasing every year, so don’t miss a trick when pulling together your marketing strategy.

Interesting factoid but trick or treating can be traced back to the 19th century in Celtic Britain. Back then people believed that on October 31st, the souls of the dead came back to our world. People got dressed up as demons and ghosts and danced around a bonfire, having treats to satisfy the evil spirits.

We think that tradition has stopped now. (But don’t quote us on that…)

So what does this have to do with marketing?

The term trick or treat didn’t actually reach America until the 1920’s but fast forward 100 years and it’s stated that American consumers spend around 8 billion dollars for this one night. UK spending isn’t as big but according to Statista, in 2019 we spent £474 million. Still big money though! This figure has doubled since 2013, so there is loads of scope for marketing to increase this figure further. See where we’re going with this?
